Food production in Germany from 2008 to 2020 September
Production of food industry in Germany stagnating since May 2018, sales still in growth trend
Update November 23rd, 2020 - The main advantage of food production (without beverage) is immediately apparent in the diagram below: a stable, smooth production trend.
We look at the course of the dashed trend line that marks the moving one-year trend. In 2010 this trend already exceeded the pre-crisis level and continued to rise until 2012. Then food production stagnated for four years until a growth trend has begun in mid-2016.
However, this slight growth trend ended in February 2018.
Since March 2018 food production has been stagnating by 0% p.a.
The reasons for a stagnation in 2020 lie outside the food industry in the course of global economic development, which is also examined in the Quest Trend Magazine.
Sales showing still a growth trend since July 2017 at 2.1% p.a.
The red dashed line in the following diagram illustrates the sales trend. This trend is determined as a moving one-year average of the monthly quotations of the sales index of the Federal Statistical Office.
Sales exceeded the pre-crisis level for the first time in July 2011, grew further until July 2014 and then declined again until mid-2017. Since July 2017 there has been a renewed growth trend in sales of 2.1% per year up to September 2020. Since May 2020 trend has been declining.
